Wake up from your sleep. Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light. So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times.
Raising up next generation leaders to instigate and influence change for the common good.
We are a ministry that is committed to both reaching high school and college students with the good news of Jesus and equipping them to make a difference in the world.
We are accomplishing this through three phases of ministry
- The Amazing Next Conference
- Generation514 Gap Year
- The Executive Internship Program
What we Value…
Intellectualism – If we don’t embrace intelligent thinking and show students how sociology, science, and psychology don’t have to be at odds with the faith, then we are missing it.
Spirituality – We must be open to the mystery of spirituality. Social scientists have defined it as “the search for the sacred,” where “the sacred” is broadly defined as “that which is set apart from the ordinary.” We love that definition. We want to cultivate a culture where we are on a quest for things that are set apart and show students that the most spiritual life they can have is one that is wide open to the fullness of the triune God.
Relationship – Life is about relationships and so is faith. When we first open ourselves up to faith, what we’re really doing is opening our lives up to a relationship with God and His people.
Diversity – A diverse community shows the beauty of what faith does and it becomes the tangible way we live out the gospel. We value diversity of culture, gifts, and views and we encourage them all to be lived out within our community.
Grace -We want to create an environment where students can experience the warmth and goodness of God. In the midst of everyday failure and mistakes, Generation514 longs to be known for what God is so naturally good at, showing His amazing grace.
Creativity – The more we discover about God the more we realize how artistic and creative he is.
Fun – We believe that laughter and fun brings us closer to each other and ultimately creates an environment that fosters deep relationships.
What we believe…
When we begin to describe what we believe about God, we discover that he’s been writing a story of hope, love, and redemption for the entire world, and we have a role to play in this story. Now this does not replace or dilute our Tenets of faith. In fact we believe it clarifies and helps us understand them more fully.
In the beginning God created all things good. He created mankind in his image and placed them as image bearers in relationship with Him, with a missional calling to serve, care for, and cultivate the earth.
The enemy tempted the first humans, and darkness and evil entered the story through human sin and are now a part of the world. This devastating event resulted in our relationships with God, others, ourselves, and creation being fractured and in desperate need of redeeming.
God put in place a plan to redeem what was lost. And it led to His sending of His Son Jesus to fix what was broken and make payment for the worlds debt. Jesus came to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted and set captives free, proclaiming a new arrival of the Kingdom of God, bringing about a New Exodus, and restoring our fractured world. He and his message were rejected by many as he confronted the oppressive nature of the religious elite and the empire of Rome. Yet his path of suffering, crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection has brought hope to all creation. Jesus is our only hope for bringing peace and reconciliation between God and humans. Through Jesus we have been forgiven and brought into right relationship with God. Through faith, He has become our life, and is now reconciling us to each other, ourselves, and creation.
We believe the day is coming when Jesus will return to judge the world, bringing an end to injustice and restoring all things to God’s original intent. God will reclaim this world and rule forever. The earth’s groaning will cease and God will dwell with us here in a restored creation. On that day we will beat swords into tools for cultivating the earth, the wolf will lie down with the lamb, there will be no more death and God will wipe away all our tears. Our relationships with God, others, ourselves, and creation will be whole. All will flourish as God intends. This is what we long for. This is what we hope for, and we are giving our lives to living out that future reality now.
We also believe the Bible to be the voices of many who have come before us, inspired by God to pass along their poems, stories, accounts, and letters of response and relationship with each other and the living God. These words have been used to describe God and his character for thousands of years, and we call this theology. The Bible is one of the best ways we can come to understand and love God; it is also how we understand who God calls us to be and what he calls us to do.
Faith is a gift from God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, bringing us to action, and we seek to act on our beliefs passionately, following Jesus and being for others the embodiment of his love and truth.
Through our actions, we can bring a little heaven to earth and so proclaim Jesus as our Savior and rightful King of our troubled world.
We have the opportunity to make a difference. That’s why we leverage both our resources and our selves in pursuit of tangible results. We believe it is our privilege to engage in the great causes of our day: reaching out to the poor, the marginalized, the victimized and powerless of our world.
